WAEC Clarifies No Official Date for 2024 WASSCE Results Release

 

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has clarified that there is no confirmed date for the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. Students and parents are encouraged to remain patient as WAEC works diligently to release the results accurately and promptly.

WAEC's Communication Officer, Moyosola Adesina, emphasized that any specific dates circulating, such as August 5, are unofficial and unverified. She stated, "The results could be released before or after the speculated date." The council has not set an official date and advises against relying on unconfirmed information.

An examiner, Mr. Jamiu Abubakar, indicated that the grading and return of scripts were recently completed, suggesting that results could be released in early August. However, the exact timing remains uncertain.

In April, Dr. Amos Dangut, Head of the Nigeria Office at WAEC Lagos, confirmed that the WASSCE for school candidates commenced on April 30, 2024. The examination concluded on June 24, 2024, with the final subject being Wood Work.

Historically, WAEC has reduced the result processing period from 84 days to 45 days, leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Thus, the release of the 2024 WASSCE results is anticipated within this timeframe.
