The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 21-year-old student, Awesu Mojisola, from the Kwara State College of Health Technology.

According to the command's spokesperson, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the incident was reported on August 12, 2024, when a resident of the Aleniboro area in Ilorin, Kwara State, Olorunoje, informed the police that a group of laborers discovered the body of an unidentified woman in a refuse site nearby.

Further investigation revealed that on August 13, 2024, a missing person report was filed by Miss Blessing O, a resident of the Gbomi area in Offa, Kwara State. She reported that her roommate, Miss Mojisola, had been missing since August 9, 2024. According to Miss Blessing, Mojisola received a phone call from a friend, Miss Timileyin, informing her about an event hosted by students from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin.

Timileyin introduced Mojisola to a student named Mr. Adebayo Happiness, who offered her N15,000 to pretend to be his girlfriend at the event. However, upon arriving at the hotel where Adebayo lodged her, Mojisola informed her roommate that she felt uneasy and noted that there was no party at the location. Shortly after, her phone was switched off, and all attempts to contact her failed.

In response to these developments, the Kwara State Police Command arrested several suspects linked to the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further scrutiny.

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, assured the public that every effort is being made to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable.
