Ayra Starr, the globally acclaimed Afrobeats star, is making her first foray into acting with a role in the Prime Video original film "Christmas In Lagos." The 22-year-old, who has previously been nominated for a Grammy, joins a star-studded cast that includes Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold.
The film, directed by Jadesola Osiberu and shot in Lagos, is a romantic comedy centered around Fiyin (played by Aladese), who, after a recent heartbreak, begins to believe that her best friend, Elo (played by Obiago), might actually be the love of her life. Osiberu has praised Ayra Starr as a symbol of youth, bravery, and fearlessness, qualities that made her a perfect fit for the film from the very beginning.
In addition to Ayra Starr, the film features musical cameos from artists like Wurld and Liya, with a soundtrack that includes music from legends such as Sunny Ade, and Afrobeats icons Flavour and D'banj.
