Despite Police Claims of Quick Traceability, Abducted Medical Students Remain Captive Beyond 48 Hours

On April 26, 2023, Olumuyiwa Adejobi warned against online abuse and defamation, asserting on his X account that tracing anyone online is possible within two hours.

However, 19 medical students from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, along with a doctor, were abducted by bandits in Benue State while en route to a convention in Enugu. One victim, Kingsley Aondona, shared their ordeal on X, revealing they hadn't eaten for two days and that the kidnappers demanded ₦50 million in ransom. The kidnappers threatened to start killing hostages if their demands were unmet by Saturday.

At the time of writing, neither the police nor the federal government had issued a statement on the abduction.
