Former spokesperson for the Labour Party, Kenneth Okonkwo, has publicly condemned President Bola Tinubu's acquisition of a new Presidential jet, expressing his disapproval of the timing and priority of the purchase.
The newly arrived Airbus A330, confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, is reported to be outfitted with luxurious features, including advanced avionics, a customized interior, and a sophisticated communications system.

Okonkwo took to social media to voice his concerns, labeling the purchase as "the height of insensitivity" in light of the severe economic challenges currently plaguing Nigeria. He pointed out the ongoing struggles faced by many Nigerians, such as widespread hunger, skyrocketing fuel prices, financial instability, and persistent power outages. According to Okonkwo, the decision to buy a new presidential jet at this time is a stark example of misplaced priorities and a lack of empathy for the hardships endured by ordinary citizens.
In his own words, Okonkwo stated, "People are dying of hunger. No food, no fuel, no finance, no electricity, and President Tinubu is buying a presidential jet. This is the height of insensitivity."
