The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed that two police officers have died, and three others are currently unconscious after an attack by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as 'Shiites.'
The attack occurred on Sunday at a police checkpoint near Wuse Junction, where the group reportedly assaulted officers using machetes, improvised explosive devices, and knives.
SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and noted that several arrests have been made in connection with the violence. The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth C. Igweh, condemned the unprovoked attack and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice.
