Tinubu Directs NNPCL and Oil Stakeholders to Tackle Fuel Supply and Pricing Issues

President Bola Tinubu has tasked Vice President Kashim Shettima with leading efforts to address the ongoing fuel pricing and availability concerns in Nigeria's oil and gas sector. In response, Shettima held a key meeting with officials, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, NNPCL's Group Managing Director Mele Kyari, and the Executive Director of the Nigerian Mainstream, Downstream, and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Ugbogu Ukoha.

According to Lokpobiri, the President is deeply concerned about the challenges Nigerians are facing due to fuel shortages and rising prices. The government aims to stabilize fuel supplies and distribution, with hopes to make petroleum products more accessible nationwide by the week's end.

While acknowledging that prices differ across regions, the government is optimistic that increased supply will lead to more stable fuel costs. However, Lokpobiri clarified that the federal government does not directly control fuel prices, as the sector operates under market-driven principles.

This intervention seeks to alleviate the uneven distribution of fuel across the country and bring relief to affected areas. The administration remains dedicated to resolving these challenges and improving the fuel supply chain for all Nigerians.

President Tinubu, currently on a trip to China for the FOCAC summit, continues to monitor the situation closely. see more
