Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Criticizes Gospel Artists for Prioritizing Money Over Worship

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of Christ Embassy, has voiced his concerns over gospel singers who focus more on financial gain than true worship. In a recent sermon, he lamented that church music has shifted from a spiritual practice to an avenue for self-promotion and profit-making.

He explained that many churches, including his own in the past, had unknowingly allowed worldly influences to take over worship. According to him, some gospel singers are more interested in fame and money than in genuine devotion to God.

Reflecting on his ministry, Oyakhilome revealed that some singers left Christ Embassy after he redirected the church’s focus on sincere worship. He criticized those who were eager to lead praise sessions but reluctant to engage in prayer, stating that true worship leaders should prioritize spirituality over personal gain.

"The church was turning into an entertainment hub rather than a place of prayer," he remarked, emphasizing that worship should be about winning souls, not making money.

While he didn’t mention specific names, well-known gospel artists such as Sinach, Frank Edwards, and Joe Praize have previously parted ways with Christ Embassy. Despite this, Oyakhilome expressed hope that those who had strayed from true worship would realign their focus and return to serving God wholeheartedly.
